The Urban Farmhouse project aims to transform a Toronto townhouse into an ideal space for urban agriculture.

The Farmhouse project also modifies the structure to make more effective use of existing site resources such as wind, solar radiation and vertical airflow. Simple, passive techniques are adopted that catch prevailing winds and provide buffer spaces from extreme weather.

The existing addition on the house will be rebuilt as a greenhouse and solar room that provides a high level of solar collection for plants during the colder months, and also can be opened up to provide stack ventilation during the summer.

The roof of the primary bedroom is extended up to provide better ventilation and light and a more grand space.
